Forest School

This term, we are very excited to be starting Forest School. We are lucky enough to have the use of an area of woodland on the Ness, which is the ideal location for us to go out and explore, have fun and learn.

Forest School is an inspirational concept providing learning opportunities through practical activities in an outdoor environment. Children enjoy the freedom to explore and experience the natural world in all seasons and in all weathers. Forest School embraces an approach of nurturing, supporting and developing the self-esteem of participants. It is a perfect environment in which to develop innovation, problem solving, risk taking, creativity and teamwork.

Forest School sessions will be led by Rebecca Edge who is a qualified leader of Forest School. Miss Edge is also a trained First Aider. She will be supported by teachers and support staff from the school.

All children from years 1 – 6 will have the opportunity to participate in one forestry session this term in their mixed year family groups. Each of these sessions will take place on a Friday afternoon.
